Safran
These Power Pack® solutions integrate engines and innovative technologies to deliver significantly optimized performance and management.
Maxime Faribault, Safran Helicopter Engines EVP, OEM Sales says, "thanks to the long and sustained technology-development strategy conducted within the Safran group, we can now offer innovative power solutions to the rotorcraft market that result in significantly improved performance giving more value to our customers".
The first two helicopters to benefit from the Power Pack® concept will be the Leonardo AW189K and Airbus Helicopters RACER.
The AW189K Power Pack® Onefeatures two Aneto-1K engines and an e-APU60 auxiliary power unit, designed by our Safran Power Units partner. Comments Maxime Faribault, "combining engines with an APU is one integrated Safran offer that results in improved availability and easier support operation".
The Racer demonstrator will feature a Power Pack® Eco Mode, configured with two Aneto-1X engines and combining hybrid technologies developed with Safran Electrical & Power, which will enable more efficient use of the power generated. With this solution, the pilot can "pause" an engine while in cruise flight, generating fuel savings of around 15% and a greater mission range.
"In the near future", says Maxime Faribault, "we will bring to the market new types of Power Pack® to address the needs of other VTOL aircraft. It will soon be regarded as a game-changer in terms of performance, operating costs and flexibility."
