Coast Guard medevacs 3 after collision near Port O'Connor, Texas

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coast Guard medevaced three boaters after a collision near Port O'Connor, Texas, Friday evening.

Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi watchstanders received a distress call from the owner of a 38-foot pleasure craft stating his boat had been involved in a collision that resulted inmultiple injuries.

A Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew and a Station Port O'Connor boat crew was launched to the scene.

The Station Port O'Connor boat crew transported the three injured boaters, a 49 year-old man, a 24 year-old man and a 9 year-old boy, to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at Froggie's Bait shop. The 49-year-old boater was then airlifted to Hermann Memorial Hospital in Houston where he was listed in critical condition.

Texas Parks and Wildlife will be conducting an investigation of the incident.
