CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coast Guard rescued a kayaker near Matagorda, Texas, Friday evening.
Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi watchstanders received a call from a kayaker stating that his kayak sank after taking on water, leaving him clinging to an ice chest with a lifejacket on.
A Station Port O'Connor boat crew and a Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi MH-65 Dolphin aircrew was launched. The Port O'Connor crew rescued the man from the water and transported him to the Port O'Connor Fishing Center.
Texas Parks and Wildlife arrived and towed the man's kayak to Port O'Connor Fishing Center.
There were no reported injuries.
