HOUSTON — Coast Guard crews assisted a commercial fishing vessel taking on water, 115 miles south of Cameron, Louisiana, Monday evening.

At 5:37 p.m., the Jennifer Lynn 8 contacted Sector Houston-Galveston watchstanders to report the vessel was taking on water and in need of assistance.

The Coast Guard Cutter Pomapano was diverted and an Air Station Corpus Christi HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane was launched.

Once on scene, the aircrew of the Ocean Sentry, an HC-144, passed a dewatering pump to the vessel.

The crew of the Jennifer Lynn 8 were soon able to patch the source of the flooding and reduce the flow of water.
The vessel is under its own power and propulsion.
