SIKORSKY RINDE HOMENAJE AL GUARDACOSTAS DEL REINO UNIDO

FARNBOROUGH, Inglaterra / PRNewswire / - Sikorsky, una compañía Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT), celebró el pasado día 18 de julio sus 35 años de asociación con la Agencia Marítima y el Guardacostas del Reino Unido (MCA, Maritime & Coastguard Agency), honrando sus heroicas misiones recientes en las que se han salvado vidas. La ceremonia de reconocimiento se celebró en el Farnborough International Airshow.  

La relación entre Sikorsky y la MCA data del año 1983, cuando la Agencia comenzó a operar el helicóptero Sikorsky S-61N. 

La flota de aeronaves de ala rotatotia del Guardacostas británico incluye actualmente 12 aeronaves Sikorsky S-92®, que operan desde las bases SAR de Newquay , Caernarfon, Sumburgh, Stornoway, Humberside e Inverness.

Desde abril de 2015 , el MCA ha utilizado su flota de helicópteros S-92 para llevar a cabo más de 4.500 misiones SAR (búsqueda y rescate).

En la ceremonia se incluyó el honrar los recientes esfuerzos de la tripulación del helicóptero de la base del HM Coastguard en Inverness el mes pasado (el premio de Sikorsky Winged-S se concede a aquellas personas que como mínimo hayan salvado una vida humana con una aeronave de Sikorsky).

En junio de 2018 , un equipo de cuatro guardacostas del HM que operaban un helicóptero S-92 rescató a dos niños trasladándolos a lugar seguroLos niños, de 11 y 14 años, nadaban en el océano cuando la marea comenzó a subir y fueron incapaces de alcanzar a la orilla.

Los chicos pudieron subirse a una formación rocosa en alta mar a medida que la marea creciente amenazaba con sumergir las rocas. Fue un ciudadano quien vio a los menores en apuros e inmedíatamente lo notificó al HM Coastguard.

La tripulación con base en Inverness respondió en tres minutos, recogiendo a los muchachos y poniéndolos a salvo en la misma playa.

Este premio, o galardón, de rescate es el número 50º otorgado a la MCA por Sikorsky.

Boeing Signs Commitment with Customer for 100 737 MAX Airplanes

Agreement carries list-price value of $11.7 billion
Significant commitment reflects strong demand for 737 MAX, fastest-selling jet in Boeing history


FARNBOROUGH, United Kingdom, July 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Boeing [NYSE: BA] and an unidentified customer reached an agreement during the 2018 Farnborough International Airshow for an additional 100 737 MAX airplanes, the company announced.
The commitment carries a list-price value of $11.7 billion and will be reflected on Boeing's Orders and Deliveries website once it is finalized.

The 737 MAX is the fastest-selling airplane in Boeing history, accumulating nearly 4,700 orders from more than 100 customers worldwide. Projections show both numbers will continue to grow significantly.
According to the Boeing 2018 Commercial Market Outlook released this week, airlines will need 31,360 new single-aisle airplanes, such as the 737 MAX, over the next 20 years. That represents a 6-percent increase over last year's forecast. Analysts say the demand is fueled by the success of low-cost carriers and a big requirement for single-aisle jets for growth and replacement.

  • The Swedish Police Authority has purchased two additional Bell 429 helicopters, growing their fleet to nine Bell 429s used for law enforcement across the country.

  • The Indonesian Police has chosen to add an additional Bell 429 to their fleet, increasing their operation to three Bell 429s.

  • An undisclosed Asia- Pacific government agency has selected two additional Bell 429s for their operation.

  • Bell has received two new orders from corporate customers in Germany and Bangladesh. In addition, a Bell 429 helicopter has been delivered to a customer in Poland.

Undisclosed customer orders six A330neo Family aircraft

A customer has signed a commitment for six A330neo Family aircraft. The Memorandum of Understanding was signed at the 2018 Farnborough International Airshow.
Launched in July 2014, the A330neo Family is the new generation A330, comprising two versions: the A330-800 and A330-900 sharing 99 percent commonality. It builds on the proven economics, versatility and reliability of the A330 Family, while reducing fuel consumption by about 25 percent per seat versus previous generation competitors and increasing range by up to 1,500 nm compared to the majority of A330s in operation. The A330neo is powered by Rolls-Royce’s latest-generation Trent 7000 engines and features a new wing with increased span and new A350 XWB-inspired Sharklets. Air Transat Selects Pratt & Whitney GTF™ Engines to Power 17 A321neo Family Aircraft from AerCap

(NYSE: UTX), and Air Transat today announced the selection of Pratt & Whitney GTF engines to power 17 firm-order A321neo family aircraft: 2 A321neo and 15 long-range A321LR aircraft, the latest variant of the A321neo. All aircraft will be leased from AerCap. This follows the Air Transat announcements in 2017 and 2018 stating its agreements with AerCap for a long-term leasing arrangement. Aircraft deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2019.

U.S. Start-up Airline Orders 60 A220 Aircraft, Powered Exclusively by Pratt & Whitney GTF™ Engines

Farnborough,  18  July  2018  -  Leonardo  and  official  distributor  in  UK  Sloane  Helicopters (Sloane)  announced  today  that  QME  Mining  Equipment  Ltd  (QME)  of  Ireland,  a  leading company  in the  supply  of  complete solutions  to  the Mining  and  Tunnelling  industries  worldwide,   has  signed  a  contract  for  an  AW109  GrandNew  helicopter.  The  aircraft  will  be  used  to  perform VIP/corporate  transport  operations  with  delivery  expected  in  early  2019.  The  announcement was made during  an  official  ceremony  held at  Farnborough  International  Airshow  today.   

QME,  with  decades  of  helicopter  ownership  experience,  selected  the  AW109  GrandNew  after  a thorough  and  rigorous  evaluation.  The  order  marks  the  first  AW109  GrandNew  in  VIP configuration  entering  the  Irish  helicopter  market  where  Leonardo  is  pursuing  further opportunities  for  a  range  of  types  that  include  the  AW109  Trekker  and  AW169,  thanks  to  stateof-art  avionic  and  navigation  systems  along  with  class  leading  performance,  safety  and  comfort standards  for  roles  such  as  VIP  transport  and  helicopter  emergency  medical  service  (HEMS). Irish operators  can  also  benefit  from  an  established  and expanding  in-country  support  presence, following  the  set  up  of  a  Leonardo  Authorised  Service  Centre  by  Sloane  Helicopters  in  St Angelo,  Enniskillen  in 2007.

Boeing Signs Commitments for 40 High-Capacity 737 MAX 8s, 53 MAX 8 Airplanes

Leonardo forms partnerships with Ultra CSS and L3 Technologies to offer complete next-gen acoustic sensor system for anti-submarine warfare

Farnborough,  18  July  2018  -  Leonardo  has    entered  partnerships  with  L3  Technologies  and  Ultra Electronics  Command  &  Sonar  Systems  (“Ultra”)  in  order  to  offer  a  complete  Anti-Submarine  Warfare (ASW)  acoustic  system  based  on  Leonardo’s  new  lightweight  ULISSES  (Ultra-LIght  SonicS  Enhanced System)  processor.  Leonardo  will  offer  an  integrated  system  comprising  ULISSES  and  either  a  dipping sonar  provided  by  L3  or  sonobuoys  provided  by  Ultra,  or  a  combination  of  both.  The  integrated  system will  be  trialed  for  the  first  time  later  this  year  with  the  complete  system  available  for  deliveries  in  2020. 

Leonardo  has  a  track  record  in  ASW  technology,  originally  providing  the  OTS-90  acoustic  system  for Italian  and  Dutch  NH90  Naval  Frigate  Helicopters.  The  Company  has  taken  the  experience  gained  from this  work  and  used  it  to  develop  the  new  ULISSES  processor,  packing  enhanced  functionality  into  a much  smaller  unit  weighing  just  6.5kg.  Combined  with  market-leading  sonobuoys  from  Ultra  and advanced  HELRAS  and  Firefly  dipping  sonars  from  L3,  Leonardo  is  now  able  to  offer  a  highlycompetitive  integrated  acoustic  system  to  a  range  of  international  users.  A  reduction  in  system  weight compared  to  legacy  systems  means  that  ULISSES  can  be  fitted  on-board  even  very  small  unmanned platforms  such  as  the  Company’s  own  SD-150  Hero  rotary-wing  aircraft.   

Notably,  the  new  system  is  able  to  deliver  multistatic  functionality,  where  the  processor  collects  data from  multiple  sonobuoys  and  combines  the  information  to  develop  an  in-depth  picture  of  the  under-sea environment,  including  detailed  location  data  of  any  potentially  threatening  vessels.  Multistatic functionality  invented  and  developed  by  Ultra  is  embedded  in  the  ULISSES  sonobuoy  processor. Currently,  Ultra  is  the  only  company  to  provide  miniaturized  sonobuoys  fitted  for  multistatic  operation which  are  suitable  for  small  UAV  applications  and  Leonardo  will  be  the  first  company  to  offer  a  system which  makes  use  of  them.  The  ULISSES  system  can  also  use  the  very-low-frequency  L3  HELRAS dipping  sonar  as  an  active  source,  improving  its  multistatic  performance  and  delivering  the  bestpossible  information  to  operators.

Farnborough,  18th  July  2018  -  Leonardo  is  pleased  to  announce  that  Magpas  Air  Ambulance  has selected  the  AW169  as  its  new  generation  helicopter.  Specialist  Aviation  Services  (SAS)  will customise  the  aircraft  with  an  advanced  medical  interior  and  will  operate  the  helicopter  on  behalf  of Magpas  Air  Ambulance,  providing  pilots  and  maintenance  services.  The  announcement  was  made during  the  Farnborough International  Airshow.   

Magpas  Air  Ambulance,  a  leading  HEMS  provider  and  the  oldest  emergency  medical  charity  of  its kind  in  the  UK,  operates  24/7  throughout  the  year  and  is  fundraising  to  put  its  AW169  into  service  in the  spring  of  2019.  Magpas  Air  Ambulance  selected  the  AW169  for  its  class  leading  characteristics and  an  unrivalled  medical  interior  enabling  360º  patient  access,  which  will  deliver  increased  mission effectiveness  in  its  daily  life-saving  duties.

Eight  AW169  helicopters  are  already  in  service  or  are  soon  to  enter  service  with  UK  air  ambulance charities  comprising  Kent  Surrey  &  Sussex  Air  Ambulance  (2  aircraft),  Children’s  Air  Ambulance  (2 aircraft),  Dorset  and  Somerset  Air  Ambulance,  Lincs  &  Notts  Air  Ambulance,  Cornwall  Air Ambulance  and  Essex  &  Herts  Air  Ambulance. 

The  first  four  AW169  air  ambulances  to  enter  service  in  the  UK  in  their  first  year  of  service  have performed  nearly  3,000 lifesaving  missions  and have  flown  more  than 2,200  hours.

SIKORSKY HONORS UK MARITIME & COASTGUARD AGENCY

FARNBOROUGH, EnglandJuly 18, 2018/PRNewswire/ -- Sikorsky, a Lockheed Martin company (NYSE: LMT), today celebrated 35 years of partnership with the UK Maritime & Coastguard Agency (MCA) and honored recent heroic lifesaving efforts of the MCA.  A recognition ceremony took place at the Farnborough International Airshow.  
The relationship between Sikorsky and the MCA dates back to 1983 when the MCA, through Her Majesty's Coastguard, began operating the Sikorsky S-61 helicopter. The HM Coastguard fleet currently includes 12 Sikorsky S-92® aircraft operating from Newquay, Caernarfon, Sumburgh, Stornoway, Humberside and Inverness. Since April 2015, the MCA has utilized its S-92 fleet to conduct 4,500 search and rescue missions.

The ceremony included honoring recent lifesaving efforts by the HM Coastguard helicopter crew at Inverness. The Sikorsky Winged-S Rescue Award is bestowed upon those who perform a lifesaving rescue with a Sikorsky aircraft.
In June 2018two boys were winched to safety by a four-person HM Coastguard crew operating an S-92 helicopter. The boys, ages 11 and 14, were swimming in the ocean when the tide began to rise and they found themselves unable to swim back to shore.
The boys were able to climb atop an offshore rock formation as the rising tide threatened to submerge the rocks. A concerned citizen spotted the boys and notified HM Coastguard.
The Inverness-based crew responded within three minutes and winched the boys safely to the nearby beach.
The Rescue Award is the 50th presented to the MCA by Sikorsky.

LONGBOW LLC AWARDED $170 MILLION IN ORDERS FOR APACHE AH-64E FIRE CONTROL RADAR SYSTEMS

FARNBOROUGH, EnglandJuly 18, 2018/PRNewswire/ -- LONGBOW Limited Liability Company (LLC) and the U.S. Army have definitized contracts valued at $170.5 million to provide LONGBOW Fire Control Radar (FCR) hardware for Apache AH-64E helicopters supporting U.S. Army lots 7 and 8 plus three international customers.
LONGBOW LLC is a joint venture of Lockheed Martin (NYSE: LMT) and Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC).
The contracts include LONGBOW FCR Mast Mounted Assemblies (MMA), Radar Electronics Units (REU) and spares for the U.S. Army, United KingdomSaudi Arabiaand Qatar, making Qatar the 13th international customer to receive LONGBOW FCR. Production will extend through April 2021 at Lockheed Martin's Orlando and Ocala, Fla., facilities and at Northrop Grumman's Baltimore, Maryland, facility.

SUBARU AND BELL ANNOUNCE COLLABORATION ON COMMERCIAL 412 HELICOPTER UPGRADE

THE SUBARU BELL 412EPX INTRODUCED AS PART OF JAPAN UH-X PROGRAM

Farnborough, United Kingdom (16 July 2018) – At a ceremony held at Farnborough Air Show today, BELL HELICOPTER, a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company and SUBARU Corporation announced their collaboration on a commercial enhancement of the BELL 412 EPI, which was type-certified this month as the 412 EPX, in support of the Japan UH-X program.

In 2015, Bell’s long-term partner, SUBARU (formerly known as Fuji Heavy Industries), was awarded the contract for the Japan UH-X program to replace Japan Ground Self Defence Force’s (JGSDF) current fleet of UH-1J aircraft with a militarized derivative of the SUBARU BELL 412EPX, which will enable the JGSDF to protect and save lives across its challenging topography, while addressing Japan’s unique requirements.

With improved performance and safety features, the SUBARU BELL 412 EPX will also provide more capability while maintaining its long-established reputation for utility and reliability for commercial customers.

The SUBARU BELL 412EPX will benefit from a more robust main rotor gearbox dry run capability, increased internal Maximum Gross Weight to 12,200 lbs. and mast torque output of +11% at speeds below 60 knots. This will provide operators the ability to transport more supplies and achieve better operational efficiency.
The SUBARU BELL 412EPX commercial variant is planned to become available to customers globally through SUBARU and BELL in the future. A commercial prototype has undergone testing at Bell’s facility in Mirabel, Canada, and FAA certification was achieved on July 5, 2018.
