NEW ORLEANS – The Coast Guard is searching for a person in the water near Perdido Bay, Alabama, Sunday.
Coast Guard Station Pensacola received a report from Escambia County Sheriff’s Office of a 20-foot pontoon boat that was beached near Ono Island at 7:19 p.m. Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission located a man near the pontoon boat who reported that he was the owner of the vessel and that his approximately 50-year-old wife was missing.
He reported that at approximately 3:00 p.m. he entered the water to assist his wife who was struggling to swim. Then the vessel drifted away as he searched for her. He swam to shore and notified authorities his wife was missing.

- Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-65 Dolphin Helicopter aircrew
- Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission
- Lower Alabama Search and Rescue
- Escambia County Search and Rescue
- Escambia Fire Department
- Escambia Sheriff’s Office
