MIAMI — The Coast Guard and Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission ended their search Saturday for an overdue boater south of Stock Island.
Missing was Raymond Robins, 65.
A Coast Guard Air Station Miami HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew found Robins and directed in an Air Station Miami MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew and a Coast Guard Station Key West 45-foot Response Boat—Medium boatcrew.
Once on scene, the rescue crew found Robins unresponsive. The RB-M crew recovered Robins and transported him to the station where a Monroe County Medical Examinerpronounced him deceased.
“It saddens us deeply when we cannot bring someone back after searching for them extensively,” said Petty Officer 1st Class Ryan Andzelik, operation unit with Sector Key WestCommand Center. “Anytime we get underway to search in the maritime domain for someone missing, we always hope to bring them back safely to their friends and family.”
