Coast Guard rescues 4 people from disabled vessel

NEW ORLEANS— the Coast Guard rescued four people from a disabled vessel offshore Southwest Pass Louisiana, Saturday.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector New Orleans received a report at 10:50 a.m. of a disabled 20-foot vessel with four people aboard 8 miles south of Southwest Pass.

Sector watchstanders directed the launch of a 24-foot Special Purpose Craft—Shallow Water boatcrew from Coast Guard Station Venice and a diverted an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew from Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans to assist the vessel.

The aircrew arrived on scene at 12:18 p.m. and directed the boatcrew to the disabled boat’s location.

The Coast Guard boatcrew transferred the four people aboard their vessel and towed the disabled vessel to Venice Marina.

The people were transported safely in stable condition.
