Coast Guard searching for missing swimmer near Corpus Christi, Texas

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas —​ The Coast Guard is searching for an 18-year-old man in the water who was last seen swimming between Packery Channel and Bob Hall Pier near Corpus Christi, Texas, Thursday.

Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi watchstanders received a report of three persons in the water, two males and one female, swimming 150-200 yards offshore when the male and female lost sight of the other male.

The female swimmer was able to make it back to shore while the male was assisted back to shore by Corpus Christi Beach Rescue. The missing swimmer is reported to be wearing pink swimming trunks.​

Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi watchstanders issued an urgent marine information broadcast and launched an Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi MH–65 Dolphin helicopter aircrew and a Station Port Aransas 45-foot Response Boat–Medium boat crew.

Coast Guard searching for possible person in water near Brownsville, Texas

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coast Guard is searching for a possible person in the water after locating an overturned life raft near a debris field 68 miles northeast of Brownsville, Texas, Sunday afternoon.​

While on routine patrol, a Sector/Air Station Corpus Christi​ HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft​ crew spotted an orange life ring, pink life jacket and a small debris field.​

Approximately three miles away, an overturned life raft was found.​ ​ ​
Involved in the search are:
  • An​ HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircraft​ crew from Sector/Air Station Corpus​ Christi
  • An MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew from Sector/Air Station Corpus Chrisit
  • A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station South Padre Island
  • The Coast Guard Cutter Jacob Poroo
