Coast Guard medevacs a man 86 miles offshore of Naples, Florida

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.— The Coast Guard medevaced a man 86 miles offshore of Naples, Florida, Monday.

A Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew hoisted an ill 53-year-old male crew member from a 44-foot fishing vessel and transported him to Tampa General Hospital for treatment.

Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg command center watchstanders were notified by the fishing vessel crew of reported various medical symptoms, and the Coast Guard District 7 duty flight surgeon recommended a medevac.

Coast Guard searches for jet skier near Mission Bay

SAN DIEGO — The Coast Guard is searching for a missing man near Mission Bay Sunday evening.

The man is described as an adult, bald Hispanic man approximately 5'10" wearing a blue life jacket and was last seen aboard a white Sea-Doo jet ski with a gray seat.

At approximately 8:20 p.m., the family of the missing man reported him missing after he failed to return to Ski Beach where he and his family departed aboard jet skis.

A Coast Guard Air Station San Diego MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew and a Coast Guard Station San Diego Response Boat-Medium boat crew are searching along side Mission Beach Life Guard personnel.​

Coast Guard medevacs cruise ship passenger 100 miles east of Cape Hatteras, NC

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — The Coast Guard medevaced a cruise ship passenger approximately 100 miles east of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, Thursday morning.

Watchstanders at the 5th District command center in Portsmouth received notification at approximately 7:15 p.m. Wednesday from the cruise ship Carnival Horizon's crew that a 33-year-old woman was suffering appendicitis-like symptoms and needed a medevac.

An MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew from Air Station Elizabeth City, North Carolina, responded. Upon arrival, the helicopter crew hoisted the passenger and medevaced her to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk. 

"The Carnival Horizon diverted their course towards shore, which expedited our response time," said Lt. j.g. Daniel J. Dunn, command duty officer at the 5th District command center. "The success of this case was a result of exceptional coordination between the cruise ship, the command center and Air Station Elizabeth City."
