Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod pilot recounts Hurricane Harvey response one year later

BOSTON — Members of Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod, including two pilots and a rescue swimmer, give firsthand accounts of the the Hurricane Harvey rescue efforts.

Hurricane Harvey made landfall in August of 2017. More than 2,000 Coast Guard members responded to the disaster including many from the Northeast. Nineteen members of Air Station Cape Cod, including pilots, rescue swimmers, and maintenance personnel deployed to Houston.

The Coast Guard rescued more than 11,000 people during one of the largest response efforts in Coast Guard history.
