Coast Guard medevacs 4 to Florida after boat explosion in Exuma, Bahamas

CLEARWATER, Fla. — The U.S. Coast Guard assisted the Royal Bahamas Police Force Saturday, medevacing four American citizens to Florida after an explosion on a boat near Exuma, Bahamas.

At 11:06 a.m. Coast Guard Seventh District watchstanders received a call from the Royal Bahamas Police Force requesting assistance after boaters suffered from various injuries.

An HC-130 Hercules airplane crew with two medical personnel from Air Station Clearwater was launched, landed in Exuma, and transported the boaters to the air station where emergency medical services awaited.


The cause of the incident is under investigation by the Exuma branch of the Royal Bahamas Police Force.
