Coast Guard rescues 2 kayakers near Little Tybee Island

A Coast Guard Station Tybee Island boatcrew takes a photo with two kayakers after rescuing them Wednesday, May 9, 2018, near Little Tybee Island, Georgia. The kayakers called Coast Guard Sector Charleston for help after they capsized and were unable to get back on their kayaks. 

CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Coast Guard rescued two kayakers Wednesday after their kayaks capsized near Little Tybee Island, Georgia.
Rescued was Michael Shultz and Jeff Shuver.

Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Charleston received a call from the kayakers at 8:30 p.m. stating they had capsized and could not get back on their kayaks. Both kayakers had life jackets on.

A Coast Guard Station Tybee Island 29-foot Response Boat – Small crew and an Air Station Savannah MH-65 Dolphin rescue helicopter crew launched at approximately 8:45 p.m.
The Dolphin crew located the kayakers at 9:03 p.m. and lowered a rescue swimmer. The RB-S crew arrived on scene at 9:40 p.m., embarked the kayakers and their kayaks and transported them to Bull River Marina.
No injuries were reported.
